The Equality Act 2010 is a legal protection from discimination in a working environment and in other social circles, including age discrimination and public sector Equality Duty.

In the words of the UK Government, the Act

replaced previous anti-discrimination laws with a single Act, making the law easier to understand and strengthening protection in some situations. It sets out the different ways in which it’s unlawful to treat someone.

The UK Government has published a series of guides about the Equality Act 2010. It informs who is protected from discrimination, the types of discrimination under the law and what action you can take if you feel you’ve been unfairly discriminated against.

One of the guides is dedicated to the definition of disability and about matters to be taken into account in determining whether a person is a disabled person. Click here and access the guidance.
