Team BRIT is a competitive motor racing team consisting of disabled drivers.
We are a competitive racing team, not a charity, and we race against teams of able-bodied drivers on a totally level playing field — something that no other sport can offer.
We aim to make racing history and take a team to the world famous Le Mans 24hr endurance race, becoming the first ever British all-disabled team to do so.
Many of our drivers have taken part in karting events through our linked charity, KartForce. Team BRIT provides the opportunity for them to step up to competitive endurance racing.
How?
Our drivers undertake an intensive driver development programme to hone their driving skills to the level required to compete against experienced drivers.
In 2017 we raced in the Fun Cup series. Racing in identical-spec cars, teams take part in endurance races ranging from 4-8 hours. We also took part in the Spa Francorchamps Race in Belgium in July, a 25 hour race, known as 'the longest race in the world'.
In 2018 we continued in the Fun Cup and began GT4 racing in our Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Drivers Warren McKinlay and Jamie Falvey made history by being the first all-disabled team to race on the famous Le Sarthe Circuit at Le Mans. They races in the Aston Martin Le Mans Festival, held just prior to the annual endurance race.
In 2019 we raced the Aston Martin in the Britcar Championship and our rookies took part in the BMW 116 Trophy in our BMW 1 series cars.
In 2020 and in 2021, we're racing the Aston Martin in the Endurance Category of the Britcar Championship and our rookies race our BMWs in the Trophy Category.
We plan to enter British GT in 2022, taking us one step away from being able to apply for Le Mans.
